Direct to Garment

Custom T-shirts with Direct to Garment (DTG)

Direct-to-garment (DTG) printing is a method of printing in which ink is directly injected into the fibers of a garment using a specialized printing machine. The machine uses a combination of heat and pressure to transfer the ink from the print head to the fabric. DTG printing is similar to a regular inkjet printer, but the print head is designed to print on fabric instead of paper.

Why Choose Direct to Garment (DTG)?

There are several advantages of direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, including:

High-resolution and photographic quality

DTG printing allows for high-resolution, full-color images that can closely match photographic quality. For designs that are detailed, you can opt to choose this printing method.

Less setup time and cost

DTG printing does not require the creation of separate screens for each design, which can reduce costs and time to produce. This is great if you are in a hurry with getting your shirt printed.

Customization

DTG printing is well suited for small runs or one-off items, making it ideal for personalization or customization. If you plan to get a few number of shirts, DTG is a good choice.

Vibrant colors

DTG printing uses a wide range of inks and color options, which allows for vibrant and highly detailed designs.

Versatility

DTG printing can be used on a variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, and blends. It is also able to print on dark-colored fabrics. If your intended shirt to use is black, you should choose this printing method.

Speed

DTG printing is relatively fast, allowing for quicker turnaround times on orders. You can easily get your orders if you choose DTG.

Environmentally friendly

DTG does not require the use of harsh chemicals and solvents, making it an eco-friendly option.

How do we do it?

We provide digital direct to garment printing in a few distinct ways. The only digital printing method that will work for your order if you are printing on a colorful cotton shirt, or a cotton shirt that is not white, is printing with a white ink underbase. This “underbase,” or white ink primer layer, leaves a blank canvas on your clothing so that we can print your design in vibrant, punchy colors. You can choose the digital printing program you want to use if your order specifies white cotton shirts.

You can still use the white ink underbase printing method if you would like your print colors to “pop” and be vivid. Or, you can also choose our “soft-hand” digital printing method which does not involve the use of a white ink underbase. Instead, we print the colors of your design into the fibers of the white cotton garment. This makes a print that’s completely textureless and soft, however this method does not yield bright and vivid colors. When using this “soft-hand” digital printing application, your design will appear more faded or washed out. This makes it a great method to use when your design is intended to appear more vintage or sub-dued.

What will be the design format?

Most file types, including ai, pdf, eps, psd, tiff, or jpeg, are suitable for the artwork you’ll need to send to us. Although we advise developing your graphic at least “life-size” or at its real printed dimensions and set at a resolution of 300 dpi, rasterized or vectorized art is acceptable.
